veuve clicquot packaging made from veuve clicquot grapes!

As part of Veuve Clicquot’s commitment to ‘innovate while preserving the planet’, they have been experimenting with sustainable packaging formats under the Naturally Clicquot brand since 2013.

Working with DS Smith, Veuve Clicquot has developed a new, 100% biodegradable and recyclable carton that cleverly combines the grape waste from their own champagne production process with recycled paper.  An incredible 5.2 tonnes of virgin fibre was ‘saved’ by using grape residue from the Veuve Clicquot manufacturing process as natural pigments.   The packaging is then printed using solvent-free ink and varnish, and the pasted label is sugar-cane based producing a truly 100% biodegradable, recyclable pack.

The hand drawn graphics communicate the strong environmental credentials of the packaging and the distinctive yellow champagne label is a reassuring reference to the quality of the product as well as a clear signpost in-store.
