packaging trend: christmas coffee

2017 December 27

christmas themed coffee cups bring some festive cheer to shoppers

During the busy shopping period leading up to Christmas, the coffee shops provide a welcome pit-stop for weary consumers and to tempt us in off the street they are busy transforming their menus, stores and packaging. Christmas packaging offers brands the opportunity to engage with their consumers in a unique way. Leading brands look for ways to bring the magic of Christmas to life whilst having a distinct voice and connecting with their specific audience in a meaningful way.

Consumers have come to expect and anticipate Christmas themes and special edition Christmas packaging is very popular – and much shared and commented about.

Many brands and retailers are also looking to support good causes at Christmas. Starbucks has its #GiveGood campaign to encourage people to share a kindness with their friends and community and Pret is busy donating 50p from every Christmas sandwich bought to help deliver unsold food to homeless shelters. Starbucks are hoping to engage consumers with cups that can be personalised in-store inviting consumers to colour in the cups themselves.

Taking a break from the hustle and bustle of shopping to relax over a coffee is an integral part of our shopping experience and through their Christmas campaigns, coffee chains are helping create a fun, festive atmosphere. By introducing personalised elements and encouraging social media interaction, consumers are invited to become involved first hand which is always a powerful motivator. Let’s just hope these festive cups are collected and recycled.
